FICTION

 

Debut novel Tin Kickers selected for WH Smith Fresh Talent Promotion for debut novel.

 

Short stories published in magazines such as Ireland's Eye, Reality, The Hollybough, Munster Literature Centre Newsletter, Silver Wolf, DAM (UK) and Nocturnal Submissions (Australia)

 

One of my stories was also included in an anthology of Irish Short stories called 21 All Told published by The Works, Wexford.

 

Received commendations from Slough Arts Festival, Fenner Brockway Peace Prize and the J.A. Gooding Prize,

 

Awarded Certificate of Merit in RTE/Royal Liver National short story competition, 1994.

 

Poetry published in magazines such as The Steeple, Mitrepress, Full Moon, Writings, Pen & Keyboard (UK) and Rustic Rub (UK).

 

Winner, Poetry, The Waterford Review.

 

 

RADIO

 

Short-listed for radio-drama national competition, PJ O’Connor awards. 1998.

 

Commissioned by BBC Radio 4 to adapt book Fractions of Zero for a five-part series for Woman’s Hour. Broadcast August 2002.

 

Commissioned by Radio 4 for another 5-part adaptation of Final Sacrament. Broadcast May 2004.

 

Commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland to write an episode of long running series Baldi Broadcast  on Radio 4 February 2005.

 

Commissioned  for five-part detective series Fragments of Amy for BBC Radio 4.

Broadcast Oct 2006.

 

Commissioned to write two half-hour thrillers Hallows End and Vostok for BBC 7.

Broadcast March 2007.

 

Contributed short story Under the Stars for BBC 7 Sting in the Tale series. Broadcast 2010.

Narrated and co-produced radio documentary The Little Shop of Secrets for RTE Radio 1 - The Documentary on One

FILM

 

Wrote, Directed and Produced a short film Pteranodon.

A futuristic thriller the script received 1st place in the RTE/Film Base short film awards.

The project also received award funding from the Department of the Environment and has been shown in film festivals in Ireland, UK, Germany and Portugal.

Broadcast on Irish national television, Network 2, in May 1997.

 

Received a bronze award at Houston WorldFest  for feature-length screenplay Sundown.

 

Won the Tony Doyle Bursary with BBC Northern Ireland for Tv drama proposal Voyage of The Antelope. The script  also received support funding from the Irish Film Board and was optioned by Borderline Productions (option now lapsed).

 

Developed feature film script Young Maximus with development funding from Irish Film Board.

 

Won Grand Prix award at EuroPAWS 2001 and UK PAWS 2001 for tv drama ideas, supported by EuroMedia.

 

 

STAGE

 

One-act play Absent Comrades performed in Watershed Theatre, Bognor Regis, UK, March 1997. This play also ran for two weeks in the Focus Theatre, Dublin in August 1997 under the direction of Jayne Snow.

 

One-act play The Leggetts, a comedy, performed at the Cork Arts Theatre.

Full length play ProLog staged in the Millennium Hall, Cork City Hall, October 2019

 

Winner of One-Act drama section, Cork Literary Review.

 

Runner-up, Alice Mortimer Award, UK.

 

Honourable Mention, Society of Irish Playwrights.

 

Winner, Bank of Ireland and Annaghmakerrig Prizes, for Full-length play An Enemy Within, Listowel Writers'Week

 

Runner-up, South Tipperary Arts Festival competition.

Winner, Cork Arts Theatre One-Act Play Competition 2017
