Tin Kickers

After a five hour delay at Los Angeles International Airport the weary passengers of flight ACL248 finally get some sleep as they cruised at 27,000 feet above the Sierra Madre heading south for Mexico City. Nobody took much notice as the dimmed lights of the cabin flickered for a few moments. In the cockpit  Captain Luis Juarez cursed the maintenance company and ordered his junior pilot to carry out  a routine check on the aircraft's electrical systems. Less than twenty minutes later ACL248 disappears off Mexico Approach Radar.

Three thousand miles away, NTSB aircrash investigator Ron Carter is fast asleep in his Washington apartment when the phone rings. A voice on the other end tells him they have a bird down.

The following day Carter, along with the other investigators of the NTSB `Go-Team', is picking through the remains of ACL248 as she lay in a thousand burnt little pieces on a desolate mountain peak in the Sierra Madre. Of the 148 passengers and crew there were no survivors. The initial findings of the investigation point to pilot error. Carter, however, after listening to the flight  recorders, feels uneasy about the events which led to the crash. His suspicions fall on the maintenance company, General Airfactors (GenAir) based in Los Angeles. He is also contacted by FBI agent Nancy Kronziac who informs him that one of the GenAir mechanics who had worked on ACL248 was under surveillance for his ties to an ultra right wing group in southern California with a clandestine network of associations all over the country.

Carter and Kronziac follow a trail of clues which takes them from the rocky slopes of the Sierra Madre to the highest echelons of the Federal Government in Washington.

Fractions of Zero

Nancy Kronziac of the FBI’s Domestic Terrorism Unit, her own life under threat from the extremist militia The Bitteroot Woodsmen, investigates the tragic disappearance of a 16-year old girl.

She finds the girl - wrapped in a bin liner and buried at the bottom of a sewage tank. Kronziac’s investigation of the murder reveals a series of mysterious cryptograms and riddles received by various police departments throughout the western states.

Enlisting the help of Harvard mathematics professor James Ellstrom they slowly crack the codes that lead them to discover a pattern of mutilated victims.

To find the killer and stop the slaughter Kronziac and Ellestrom must link the past and the present, the works of Keats, Beethoven and Durer. They must break codes from the Caesar Shift to computer ASCII, to follow a mathematical sequence that occurs everywhere in nature, that governs beauty in art and music, even the celestial movements of the heavens and the California State Lottery.

Above all she must pierce the unseen mind. . . the fraction of zero.

Vanish: vb(math) to become, or tend to, zero.

The third novel featuring FBI agent Nancy Kronziac as she trys to stop ritual killer Raymond Gantz.

Another run-in with domestic terrorists the Bitteroot Woodsmen leaves one of Kronziac's agents dead and an internal inquiry which threatens her whole career.

Because of her experience in tracking down killers Eric Klim and Emery Madsen she is drawn into another serial case when a young woman is found murdered and 'posed' in the most bizarre circumstances in her apartment in San Francisco. The first victim is quickly followed by several others, their killer teasing the FBI with a series of baffling clues as to the locations of the bodies.

Kronziac is reunited with cryptanalist James Ellstrom and psychologist Fred Stranski in trying to find the killer and halt the slaughter. However, it is Catholic priest and theologian Fr Michael Raphoe who finally recognises the link between the victims and the symbols of heresy hidden in the paintings of Nicholas Poussin.

They must find Gantz before he commits his final act of revenge which threatens more lives, including that of someone very close to her.
